Project Information
The Butler Project was started by Sabrina Mason. A native of nearby California, Kentucky, Sabrina is currently a graduate student at the University of Kentucky in the College of Design (UK/CoD). Sabrina's research at UK centers on using the design process as a tool for enhancing community vibrancy in small towns. The Butler Project is Sabrina's first try at putting a community design process to work. As a grassroots community vibrancy initiative, this project aims to help Butler citizens enhance their community experience by increasing vibrancy and activity in this small town.
Working with local citizens, The Butler Project will help facilitate a process of generating ideas for enhancing community life in Butler, Kentucky. Citizens will be asked to participate in all phases of the project - surveys, photo assessment, community workshops, city branding development, prototyping, etc.
Citizens and visitors alike will be encouraged to attend a community exhibit in Butler this coming spring. Based on the information gathered throughout the project, the exhibit will tell the story of community life in Butler and the aspirations for this small town in the future!
